Officials Urge Brookfield Residents to Write About 'Growing Together'

The city's Annual Arbor Day Writing Contest has returned. Entries must be submitted by April 7.

In the spirit of "growing together," Brookfield officials are asking residents to put their thoughts on paper.

The city is currently accepting pieces for its Annual Arbor Day Writing Contest, in which winners receive a tree seedling poised for planting.

Entries should align with the 2017 theme of "Growing Together, Trees and Me," and be in essay, short story, poetry, or creative writing forms. Additionally, they should not exceed 350 words, according to the Brookfield website.

"A panel of judges from the city of Brookfield will review the entries and select winners," the entry form indicates. "Judging criteria is based on creativity and originality (and) all judging decisions are final."

The contest is open to residents of all ages. All entries must be submitted by Friday, April 7 and winners will be notified by April 18.
