• Carol Kobe (merrillfotonews.com) — Brookfield’s Harder Funeral Home is handling arrangements for longtime Wisconsin resident Carol Kobe, who passed away January 11 at age 84. A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for Saturday, January 17 at Queen of Apostles Catholic Church in Pewaukee, and friends are encouraged to honor her by supporting their local humane society in her name.

• Brookfield athlete makes USA Luge team for 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics (tmj4.com) — A Brookfield-raised luger, 20-year-old Marcus Mueller, has officially made the USA Luge team and will compete in men’s doubles at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympics. After years of training that began as a Brookfield high school student, he now heads to Italy following recent World Cup podium finishes, including gold at Lake Placid.

• Obituary: John Seiberlich (doorcountypulse.com) — Brookfield readers may remember John Seiberlich, who grew up here before building a life in Milwaukee and Door County, where he ran Top Shelf Cafe and Gourmet. His family invites friends to a wake in Baileys Harbor on Jan. 16 and a memorial service in Sister Bay on Jan. 17, with donations suggested to a Door County community fund.
