Two Tried Buying Hydrochloric Acid Near Brookfield Protest: Cops

Police say two men who tried buying hydrochloric acid have been tracked down with the help of the public.

BROOKFIELD, WI — Police in Brookfield say they've tracked down to men who tried buying hydrochloric acid near the area of a planned protest earlier this month.

According to the Waukesha County Sheriff's office, two men walked into Hydrite Chemical, 300 N. Patrick Blvd. on June 5 in an attempt to buy hydrochloric acid, which is considered highly acidic and can attack the skin upon contact.

A protest was scheduled the same afternoon, police said.

Brookfield police said the two men were turned away by Hydrite Chemical employees, as the building is a corporate center with no retail facilities.
