Waukesha County Sets 24-Hour Coronavirus Case Record

Waukesha County health officials say the county's previous 24-hour record for new COVID-19 cases was more than doubled.

WAUKESHA COUNTY, WI — Waukesha County health officials say they've reported the highest one-day COVID-19 case increase since they started keeping track of data in early March, as 52 new cases were reported on Wednesday. That figure tops the previous high on April 3 when 23 new cases were reported.

Waukesha County health officials say more than 67 percent of all COVID-19 cases, 643 in total as of Wednesday, have ended in recovery.

County data shows there are 179 active COVID-19 cases in the county, and 28 people have died from the virus, as of Thursday.

Authorities said of all cases in the county, 25 percent of them have required hospitalization.
