Wisconsin Sends Out Double Unemployment Benefits By Mistake
Double Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation payments were sent out to some people this week. Here's what the state is doing:
MILWAUKEE, WI — Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development officials said their office accidentally sent out double Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation payments this week into the U.S. Bank accounts of some people receiving unemployment compensation.
State officials said a technical malfunction led to the additional payment, which happened on April 30.
To fix the problem, state officials said unemployment Insurance and Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation checks were removed from U.S. Bank accounts. The Department of Workforce Development didn't specify how many people received double payments, only to say they are "rectifying the error and working with U.S. Bank to redistribute appropriate funds as soon as possible."

Wisconsin began making the additional $600 weekly payments to those receiving benefits on Wednesday. State officials said it would take several days to make all payments in this first round. State officials said the $600 weekly payments should continue until the end of July, and is above what Wisconsin residents are currently receiving in unemployment benefits.
