WISN: Neighbors Prepare Petition Against Quarry Plans

A public meeting on Wednesday will offer residents a chance to ask questions about the proposed project, which would involve using the quarry as a clean fill and eventually developing a park and residential area.

A group of neighbors to the former quarry lands in Brookfield are organizing a petition against proposed development.

The group plans to present the petition to the quarry owner at the public information meeting on Wednesday, WISN reports.

A multi-year project is proposed that would use the space as an area to dump "clean fill material," from highway projects, that would eventually shape the land and prepare it for development. A 60-acre park as well as a residential area are proposed for the space; the site is a total of 85-acres, which includes a 23-acre quarry lake.

The public meeting will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Brookfield East High School in the cafeteria. Attendees can enter at the West or Northwest doors. There is no presentation planned, but officials from the different entities involved will be available to answer questions.
