The airline connected him with the unknown man via telephone who claimed he had the checkbook. The caller said he was in Montreal, Canada, and that he wanted to do the right thing. The man asked the caller to destroy the checks. For security purposes, he then called his bank as well and notified them of the incident.

However, on Thursday he checked his bank account online and discovered two fraudulent checks had been cashed from that account in the amounts of $3,500 and $2,000. The checks were cashed in Montreal, Canada.
