Cross-Dressing Man and Pregnant 16-Year-Old Arrested for Shoplifting

A group of five targeted Sally Beauty Supply in Fox Point and stole $450 worth of hair extensions, false eye lashes and a hairbrush, police say.

Sally Beauty Supply was targeted for the second time in a month when a cross-dressing man and a pregnant 16-year-old, along with three others, stole $450 worth of beauty supplies on Nov. 7, according to a police report.

Just before 6 p.m., a Sally Beauty Supply employee called Fox Point police to report five women and a man stealing from the store. She told police the group came into the store separately, appearing not to interact or know one another, and then the man distracted her by asking about hair dye while the others walked around the store carrying curling irons.

The employee saw a women wearing a red jacket and white hat remove a metal display hook holding hair extensions from the pegboard on the wall and conceal the packages under her arm, the police report said.

She confronted the woman and told her to leave the items on the counter, but the suspect ignored her and walked to the front of the store, saying “Let’s go,” as she left, according to the report. They all left the store, and the employee called police.

Police searched the area and spotted an older minivan quickly exiting the Walgreens parking lot with a defective driver’s side headlight and several women inside, matching descriptions of those who were just inside Sally’s, the report said.

The officer pulled the van over and noticed there was a woman inside who was wearing a red jacket and white hat, same as the woman who was just in the store and left with the hair extensions. The others inside the van also matched descriptions from the Sally employee. Police arrested the woman in the red coat for retail theft. She said she was 16 years old and eight months pregnant.

Police searched the van and found five, “Sassy Silky 18” Human Hair” extensions valued at $79.99 each. All five packages were still attached to the mental hook that they were displayed on in the store. They also found two “Curl Former Extra Long and Wide” products valued at $13.99 each, a package of false eyelashes valued at $15.99, and a red “hoopla vented paddle brush” valued at $6.99. The total loss to Sally's was $450.91.

Another woman in the car were identified as the girl's sister. Police discovered that the cross-dressing man had a $2,560 warrant through Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department, the report said. He was also arrested, and because he was unable to post bond, a Waukesha County Sheriff picked him up.

The pregnant 16-year-old was cited for retail theft and obstructing, because she originally supplied a false name to police the report said.

Officers called the girl’s mother, but she said she wouldn’t pick up her daughter. She was later released to her sister.
