Jaekels Leads Lakeshore Lacrosse to 12-2 Victory over Wauwatosa
Sophomore scores four goals and seniors Anders Bjella nets five in easy victory for co-op team with players from Shorewood, Nicolet, Whitefish Bay and Port Washington.
Sophomore attack John Jaekels had something to prove in Lakeshore's 12 – 2 win over Wauwautosa on Monday in high school boys lacrosse. Coming off a one-game hiatus for aggressive play against Marquette, Jaekels quickly let his teammates know that he came to play.
Lakeshore scored the first three goals before Wauwatosa got on the board. Jaekels contributed to the 6–1 halftime score by putting in two goals off assists from middies Quinten Ziegler and Anders Bjella. His third goal came shortly after the half from a charge behind the net and double clutch fake. His fourth goal of the night was a shifty dodge between two defenders that required an off-balance shot while falling that left his teammates buzzing on the sidelines.
“Did you see that shot? Incredible,” said senior captain Anders Bjella. “That’s just the type of play this team needs (at attack).”

Shorewood senior Dante Giacoabassi kept his consecutive point streak alive with a sure-handed strike off a long, cross-field pass from Bjella. Other scores came from Bjella (5), Dakota Kwasny (1) and sophomore Jake Hansen (1).
Coach Tom Gough was pleased with his team’s performance. “Once again our defense didn’t allow their team to establish any kind of rhythm and we started to get aggressive for ground balls," he said. "Our attack is starting to gel and getting out in front early has allowed us to work on ball movement which set up the majority of tonight’s scores.”
