Knights Update: Wet and Sloppy Run, Soccer Success and More
A roundup of sports events from Nicolet High School last week, and a look ahead to this week.

Here is a roundup of sports events for the last week at , courtesy of Athletic Director Kirk Krychowiak:
The Nicolet boys and girls cross country teams headed north to Fond du Lac and met wet and sloppy conditions for the first time this year. Leading the Knights on the boys side were Josh Greenberg with an 11th place finish and for the girls Lauren Cunningham who finished 5th overall. Highlights of the meet were strong runs by Liam Raasch, Rebecca Lubar, Martha Herrenbruck, and Naomi Arenzon on the JV side. The next meet is at Waterford this Thursday and then the North Shore Conference Championships next Saturday.
The boys volleyball team on Wednesday defeated the seventh-ranked team in the state, Germantown, in four games. Career highs were achieved all around as Steven Richards had 51 assists. Dan Mulcahy had 21 kills along with Jordan Teichen who had 18. The Knights took the upper hand in the North Shore Conference race as they are now the only undefeated team remaining. It also helped strengthen the Knights resume to obtain the No. 1 seed in the sectional. This week the boys play at home versus Whitefish Bay on Wednesday.

Nicolet girls golf team members Rachel Rabenn, Jaclyn Clark, Sarah Murphy and Jennifer Lubinski ended their season last Wednesday falling short of making it through to sectionals. It was a rainy, sloshy day on the golf course but Sophomore Emily Murphy ended up shooting an 88, the low round of the day for individual qualifiers at Wanaki GC. She will be moving on and competing at sectionals this Tuesday at Bristol Oaks hosted by Kenosha Tremper.
The girls volleyball team hosted a successful Brittney Gigl Memorial Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, losing the title match to West Bend West. Senior outside hitter Melissa Morello had a team-high 11 kills for Nicolet and senior setter Dana Kenney had 24 assists. Senior middle blocker Krystalyn Goode had eight blocks. The team is undefeated in the North Shore Conference and currently ranks third in the area. This week, the Knights will host Germantown on Thursday.

The football team's record dropped to 3-4 with a tough loss to Cedarburg at home last Saturday. This week, the Knights host Germantown on Thursday night. The JV team hosts the Warhawks on Wednesday and the frosh travel to Germantown Wednesday night.
The girls swim team lost to Grafton last Tuesday 97-88, but winning events Christa Rumbaugh, Sara Zelazoski, Kim Charles and Sophie Jokumsen. This week, the team will travel to Cedarburg on Tuesday.
The boys soccer team has been awarded the No. 6 seed in their upcoming sectional and will play Milwaukee Riverside (11 seed) at Uihlein Soccer at 5 p.m. Oct. 11. This week the team will play its final conference match at Whitefish Bay on Tuesday.
The girls tennis team begins sectional play at home Tuesday in the subsectionals then will travel to Greenfield on Thursday for the sectionals and a chance at the state tournament.
The Nicolet Booster Club is hosting a parents workshop on Wednesday at 7 p.m. followed by the regular board meeting at 8 p.m. All Booster Club members who did not receive an email last week from the club containing the Sept. 14 minutes and Qdoba fundraiser information should email Mary Kappel to be added to the email list.
