Lakeshore Lacrosse Pounds St. Joe's Military, 15-3
Port Washington's Dakota Kwasny scored his first hat trick in a lopsided victory. The team faces Wauwatosa at Shorewood High School at 8 p.m. Monday.
Dakota Kwasny of the Lakeshore Lacrosse team had three goals in the Ripsharks' 15-3 win over St. John's Military Academy on Thursday.
The Lakeshore Lacrosse is a co-op team made up of players from Shorewood, Whitefish Bay, Nicolet, Port Washington, and Homestead high schools. Kwasny, from Port Washington, has had numerous two-goal games while playing for the Ripsharks and on select summer teams, but until now, had not notched a hat trick.
The Ripsharks dominated the game against the lower division Lancers from the start. St. John's, coached by Syd Jones, maintained composure throughout the game despite the lopsided score, keeping Lakeshore net minder Danny Wilson busy with 12 saves on the night. Lakeshore defensemen Kelly Jackson, Alec Monaghan, Benji Wichman and Andrew Reidy didn't allow the Lancers to easily move the ball inside and kept most of the shots off balance.

The most impressive play of the game came late in the second quarter when long stick middle Luke Zoromoski picked up the face-off from Kwasny and charged right down the middle to bury a powerful shot low and away for an unassisted goal. Sophomore attackman Jake Hansen showed both speed and agility with a beautiful swim move to split two defenders, finishing the game with a goal and an assist. Six other Ripsharks scored during the game, including senior Anders Bjella (3), Dante Giacobassi (2), Max Woody (2), Quinten Ziegler (2), Jake Hansen (1) and Jack Miller (1). Assists went to Bjella (3), Ziegler (1), Hansen (1), and Riley Liegel (1).
Lakeshore coach Tom Gough was pleased with his team's balanced effort. "We had great ball movement on offense which resulted in 6 of the 15 goals," Gough said. "Our defense continues to be solid ... and Ziegler and Kwasny were excellent at the faceoff "X." We need to get aggressive on 50/50 ground balls. …You win the ground ball game, you win the lacrosse game."
