Nicolet Students Recognized for Academic Achievement
Twelve students were given the Back on Track Award Tuesday.
Twelve Nicolet High School students Tuesday received the Back on Track Award, which recognizes students who have made significant improvements in their academic standing.
The award was created by teacher , who in 2000 won the Kohl Fellowship Award for outstanding educators.
"One of the things that's difficult, in my view, is that so many things are looked at in a cumulative big picture kind of thing," Joyce said. "People will look at what someone has done in four years of high school, and yet, really along the way, it's the bit by bit, semester by semester, class by class, that's really important.

"This is a snapshot in time of the concentrated efforts they put forth that produced significant change," Joyce said.
Each of the students received a certificate signed by District Administrator Rick Monroe and U.S. Sen. Herb Kohl, along with a gift bag.

"If it wasn't for her (Joyce) over the past 11 years, this really wouldn't have happened," Principal Greg DePue said.
