NSFD Report: One-Year-Old Trapped When Grandma Locked Out

The latest reports from the North Shore Fire Department.

The responded to a total of 100 calls for service, including 71 EMS calls, and 29 fire and rescue calls, from Nov. 7 to 13 throughout the North Shore.

Here is a summary of the calls from Shorewood, Whitefish Bay, Fox Point and Bayside.

Shorewood

  • A one-year-old was locked in a home alone in the 1300 block of East Bluff just before 3 p.m. on Nov. 9. The grandmother was babysitting and accidentally locked herself out. Firefighters gained access to the second story window with a ladder and a partially locked window. The infant was safely reunited with the grandmother.
  • There was a false alarm for smoke in the 3900 block of North Harcourt Place when someone had activated a smoke machine in the basement just before 9 a.m. on Nov. 12. 

Whitefish Bay

  • Someone was trapped in an elevator in the 800 block of East Henry Clay street around 7:16 a.m on Nov. 10. However, the elevator wasn't stuck anymore when firefighters arrived and the trapped person was already free.

Fox Point

Bayside

  • Firefighters used roughly 300 gallons of water to put out an engine fire on I-43 just before 1 a.m. on Nov. 13.
