PHOTOS: A Closer Look at Empty Bowl Kick Off

Sharing a glass of wine and a paintbrush, these ladies donated their time and a bowl to help feed the hungry.

Dozens of women made their way to in Bayside Friday night to paint a bowl for Empty Bowls, an initiative to help stop hunger.

This deep-rooted, North Shore tradition began with Amy Dodge, a Bayside resident who wanted to help feed the hungry. She began the Milwaukee chapter of Empty Bowls in 1999, and to date, has raised nearly $300,000 to help feed the hungry.

Empty Bowls will have their 2011 fundraiser from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 8 at the Milwaukee Area Technical College Oak Creek campus, 6665 S. Howell Ave., Oak Creek.
