TheΒ Schlitz Audubon Nature Center,Β 1111 E. Brown Deer Rd.,Β offersΒ a slate of events each week to enjoyΒ Mother Nature.
Here's a sampling of what's to come this week:
Monday Night Magic β Monday, 6 to 7:30 p.m.Β
Enjoy a summer evening hike with Director of Education Tom Finley. Just the right time and distance for the little ones, these nights are devoted to exploring popular locations such as the tower, lake and forest. Weβll listen to frogs, observe pond life and maybe watch bats flitter about. Youβre sure to delight in the sights and sounds of an early evening stroll at the Audubon Center. Tuesday TunesΒ β Tuesday, 6:30 to 7:30Β p.m.
Meet at the Pavilion for an evening of music ranging from folk, country andΒ anything in between. Feel free to bring your own chair. This event will go onΒ rain or shine. If it rains, music will be held in the auditorium. For a completeΒ listing of musical performances please visitΒ www.sanc.org. No Registration is required. TheΒ program is handicap accessible.
Avian Evenings βΒ Wednesday, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Wing on over for your midweek talon and beak treat! Wednesday evening you are invited to experience one of our βtalentedβ flock. TheΒ event will feature members of our feathered family. This event will go on rain or shine. If it rains music will be held in the auditorium.
Lake Michigan Discovery Hike β Thursday, 9 to 10:30 a.m.
Have you often wished you could walk in a beautiful wild place and learn about the amazing things that youβre passing by? You can descend to the lower terrace and lakeshore, always with a focus on Lake Michigan. Don Quintenz will lead you to the seasonal events that stir our sense of beauty or imagination and helps answer the questions that nature evokes in us.
Sky Hunters: Word with a BirdΒ β Saturday and Sunday, 1 to 2 p.m.
Get a beak-to-beak view of one of SANCβs feathered ambassadors. A raptorΒ handler will be showcasing one of our many birds of prey. SANCβs falcons,Β hawks, owls, turkey vulture and bald eagle will appear on a rotating basis.Β Stop by each weekend to check them out.Β
