Tipsy Woman's GPS Unit Could Have Helped in a Pinch
Lost purse finds its way back to its lost owner, who had directional help close to her heart.

A large black purse was found and turned over to June 25, and it didn't take long to find the owner. She was just around the bend and on a bender, every bit as lost as her luggage.
The woman who brought in the purse said she'd found it in the grass on the corner of East Calumet Road and North Boyd Way. A quick look inside revealed a shirt, green sandals and numerous women’s toiletries, according to the report.
A short time later, the same officer who logged the found property report drove around to the rear of the police station, where he noticed a young woman, later identified as an 18-year-old from Milwaukee, walking southbound on the railroad tracks without any shoes.

The officer asked where she was coming from, but she said she didn’t know because she had just moved to Wisconsin from Minnesota. As she was speaking, the officer noticed the smell of alcohol.
He asked if she’d been drinking and she said she had not been that day, as it was 8 a.m. when they spoke, although she said she had been drinking at a party the previous night. She said that a friend had left her there alone and explained that she felt unsafe because she didn't know anyone else, so she left the party. However, she didn't know where the party had been or how to get home.

The last thing she remembered was waking up in someone’s yard. Officers asked if she'd lost her purse, which she said she had, and after she provided a description of the contents of the purse, police returned it to her.
A preliminary breath test showed her blood alcohol content to be 0.125. She was arrested for underage consumption. A female officer was requested to search her because the woman admitted to having keys and a Garmin GPS in her bra. She said she got the GPS from her friend “Dane” because she is unfamiliar with the Milwaukee area. She was later released to her stepfather.
