Teens Involved in Theft of a McDonald's Sign from Inside the Restaurant

A 17-year-old Glendale teen was cited for theft after he stole a sign from inside the Fox Point restaurant.

According to the report:

A McDonald's manager told a young man, maybe 16 or 17 years old, took an advertisement sign from the counter and left. She estimated the value of the sign at $10. She did get the license plate number from the car the boys jumped into and after a Department of Transportation check, officers discovered the registered owner lives in Fox Point.

Police went to the home and met with the owner, who said her son was using the vehicle and was not home.

The next day, she brought her teen into the station. He said he was at McDonald’s, but denied being inside the restaurant. He also denied taking the sign.

Police reviewed surveillance footage and saw the teen take the sign and conceal it in his shorts and under his T-shirt. Officers took a picture of the video footage and showed it to the Fox Point teen. He dropped his head and admitted his friend stole the sign.

Officers went to the Glendale teen’s home, spoke to his parents and he admitted taking the sign, but he said he couldn’t find it at the time.

He was cited for theft and when officers asked why he stole the sign, he said, “I thought it would be funny.”
