'Urinetown' at Nicolet Not as Dirty as it Sounds

The show opens up at Nicolet High School Friday.

"Urinetown" sounds...different, right?

It's actually a Tony Award winning musical, with a story not too far off from current events. And it's being performed by finest on Friday, Saturday, and Feb. 11 and 12 at 7:30 p.m.

Using a lot of satire and even more synicism, "Urinetown" is a story about the world's water resources that have nearly dried up, and how one man realizes that it's just not right having to pay to pee.

The plot begins with a 20-year water shortage. People are no longer allowed to own private toilets, forcing them to use only public facilities for an astronomical fee. And these public facilities are controlled by a monopolizing entity called Urine Good Company. With the help of the CEO's daughter, a janitor at the worst pay-to-pee facility decides it's time to stop the monopoly, and they begin a rebellion that frees the people.

The cast features 22 Nicolet students. Some of the main characters include: Matt Houde as Officer Lockstock, Grace Hussey as Penelope Pennywise, Noah Laufer as Bobby Strong, Kira Patterson as Little Sally, Jenny Angeli as Hope Cladwell, and Noah Rowlett as Caldwell B. Cladwell.
