Packers Trade QB Brett Hundley To Seahawks

When the Packers need a backup quarterback, it will be newly-acquired DeShone Kizer, and not Hundley they will turn to.

GREEN BAY, WI -- Green Bay Packer fans hope that Aaron Rodgers stays healthy all season after a broken collarbone sidelined him for nine weeks during the 2017 season. But if Rodgers does need time off, the Packers will turn to backup DeShone Kizer to lead the offense.

That's because the Packers have traded backup quarterback Brett Hundley to the Seattle Seahawks for a 2019 draft pick, according to multiple reports.

The writing may have been on the wall for Hundley following an up-and-down 2017 season that saw him start seven games in Rodgers' absence due to injury. In those games, he led the team to victories over the Cleveland Browns and Chicago Bears.

During the offseason, Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst traded cornerback Damarious Randall to the Browns in exchange for Kizer, who had been splitting time with Hundley in the preseason.

Hundley moves on to Seattle, where he will back up Russell Wilson. According to an ESPN report, current backup Austin Davis and rookie seventh-round pick Alex McGough have been competing to back up Wilson, and neither has distinguished himself.
