Green Bay sports bar to close after Packers season (wearegreenbay.com) — A Green Bay staple for 45 years, Burkel's Sports Bar & Grill will close for good once the Packers’ season ends, after being sold to new owners. The longtime game-day hangout is staying open through the rest of the season and inviting fans to stop in for drinks, Packers games, and final goodbyes before a yet-to-be-announced closing date.
   

2. Green Bay school board to vote on weapon detection system pilot program (wbay.com) — Green Bay Area Public Schools may soon test weapon detection systems at local high schools, with the school board set to vote on a short-term pilot program. Superintendent Vicki Bayer says the trial, offered at steeply discounted cost, would help determine whether detectors, staffing changes, and building adjustments are worth a long-term investment in student safety.
   

3. Proposal to allocate Brown County sales tax to municipalities sparks mixed reactions (fox11online.com) — A Brown County supervisor is pushing to share part of the county’s sales tax revenue with every municipality, which could send new money to Green Bay for tax relief or infrastructure. Another supervisor argues Green Bay should instead seek its own sales tax authority, like Milwaukee did. The proposal heads to the Administration Committee in mid-January and could take effect in 2027.
