1. Green Bay honors the lives of unhoused neighbors who died this year (nbc26.com) — Green Bay residents gathered by candlelight for the 16th annual peace walk and interfaith service honoring 10 unhoused neighbors who died over the past year. Families, advocates, and people currently experiencing homelessness found comfort and hope, while organizers urged the community to volunteer at warming shelters and support safe, affordable housing efforts.

2. Green Bay's new fire station headquarters $4 million over budget; options presented (nbc26.com) — Green Bay officials are weighing three costly options for the new fire station and headquarters at 420 South Broadway, now up to $4.6 million over budget. The Ad Hoc Facilities Committee will recommend whether to fully build out, partially finish, or scale back the station, a decision that will shape future fire coverage and city finances.

3. Department of Transportation activates Frozen Road laws in northeast Wisconsin (wearegreenbay.com) — Frozen road laws are now in effect for Zone 3, which includes Green Bay and much of northeast Wisconsin, changing weight limits for trucks hauling road salt and abrasives. The rules, activated early Thursday, let winter maintenance vehicles exceed normal weight caps on frozen roads while other seasonal restrictions remain in place to protect pavement.

4. Grant funds boost Lombardi Middle's CO₂ dragster competition (wbay.com) — Students at Lombardi Middle School in Green Bay are racing CO₂ dragsters on a new timed track this year, thanks to a grant from the Green Bay Area Public Schools Education Foundation. The funding paid for an electronic starter and timer, helping students collect precise data while exploring hands-on STEM and potential trade careers supported by community donations.

5. Wisconsin Cattlemen's Association, wildlife advocates react to delisting of the gray wolf (wbay.com) — From Green Bay, local and northwest Wisconsin livestock producers are reacting to a U.S. House vote that would remove gray wolves from the Endangered Species Act. Supporters say delisting is needed to better manage rising wolf conflicts with cattle, while wildlife advocates condemn the move as abandoning science-based management.
