U.S. Rep. From WI Announces Resignation

U.S. Rep. Mike Gallagher​ will resign from Congress next month, his office announced Friday.

GREEN BAY, WI — U.S. Rep. Mike Gallagher will resign from Congress next month, his office announced Friday.

Gallagher, who represents Green Bay and the rest of Wisconsin's eighth congressional district, said he decided after "conversations with my family."

"Four terms serving Northeast Wisconsin in Congress has been the honor of a lifetime and strengthened my conviction that America is the greatest country in the history of the world," read a statement from Gallagher's office.

Gallagher did not say why he was resigning. His last day in office will be April 19.
