Building Fire Saturday At Crocus Court Apartments In Greendale

The Greendale Fire Department was able to put out the fire with assistance from neighboring agencies and no injuries were reported.

GREENDALE - The Greendale Fire Department responded around 4 p.m. Saturday to a structure fire at the Crocus Court apartment complex near 76th and Grange.

The department reports that upon arrival, officers found heavy black smoke coming from the rear of an eight-unit apartment building. The crew descended to the second floor apartments and had to pull ceiling to reach the fire in the attic.

Damage was limited to the two rear apartments and all occupants were safe and able to escape before the fire department arrived.

The Greendale Fire Department was assisted by fire departments from Franklin, Greenfield, Hales Corners, and Oak Creek, and the Cudahy Fire Department staffed the Greendale station while the crew was out.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. There is no word on how long occupants will be displaced.
