Missurelli said he made three benches for the community center in Greendale, each with a modern twist. The benches had solar panels on the back and allow people to charge their devices when stopped, Missurelli said in the board meeting.
Yaccarino's older brother, Daniel Yaccarino, described his brother Andrew's project. Yaccarino's project focused on helping the marching band with its uniforms and the transportation of said uniforms, his brother said.
Evans built outdoor seating for the Autumn Leaves memory care facility in Franklin with the help of some volunteers, he said at the meeting.
Farley partnered with the Hunger Task Force farm in Franklin to build five birdhouses and one bat house. The habitats will attract the animals to help manage insects at the food farm and minimize the need for pesticides, Farley said at the meeting.
Board Receives COVID-19 Update
Susan Shepeard, health director of the Greendale Health Department, gave the Board of Trustees an update on COVID-19 in the Village at the meeting.
July 30-Aug. 5 saw 44 new cases of COVID-19. For Aug.5-12 there were 39 cases. Since Friday, there have been 16 new cases. At present, 29 people are isolating, two of which are children. Many of the new cases are coming from spread within families, Shepeard said in the meeting.
"We are pretty sure that 98 percent of the cases we have are the delta variant," Shepeard said in the meeting. "The variant is twice as contagious as the original variant."
Over the past eight months, there were 41 cases considered "breakthrough," Shepeard said. These are cases in which people were fully vaccinated, but they still got sick with COVID-19. Two of the breakthrough cases ended in hospitalization, she said in the meeting.
New Car For Fire Chief
The Village Board approved a motion that allows the Fire Chief to buy a new vehicle for the department. The current car requires work that could cost $3500, Greendale Fire Department Chief Kenten Kais said in the meeting.
The Board approved a purchase of a new vehicle instead of going with a repair on an older vehicle. The vehicle will be paid for with the fire department equipment fund.
