Explosion In The Night, Power Outages In Greendale

About 300 lost power after Tuesday night's storms in Greendale. One resident witnessed an explosion.

GREENDALE, WI β€” About 300 people in Greendale were without power into Wednesday morning after severe thunderstorms Tuesday night. WE Energies is surveying damage across the state. Over 100,000 people in southeastern Wisconsin and the Fox Valley lost power, a WE Energies spokesperson confirmed.

One resident posted a video of what appears to be a transformer exploding near Old Loomis Road and Hollow Lane. The resident told Patch his power has been restored.

WE Energies did not immediately have information about what caused the explosion.

Widespread damage is found across the state. Trees have been uprooted, occasionally falling into power lines. The severe storms left many across Wisconsin without power, according to Alison Trouy, a WE Energies media representative.
