Friend Of Wehr Nature Center, Franklin Teacher: James Rieck Dies At 84

James "Jim" E. Rieck passed away peacefully June 27th, 2022, at the age of 84. Reunited with his beloved late wife Sue (nee: Burns). United in marriage for 52 years, they'll be together again to celebrate their anniversary on July 4th.

Devoted father of Katie (Mike) Gawrys and Lynn (Eric) Carlson. Proud grandpa of Ellie, Joseph, Megan and Jessica. Preceded in death by his brother Eugene (the late Muriel) Rieck. Also survived by loving nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Jim was an industrial arts teacher in the Franklin Public Schools. He enjoyed birding and botany, and his passion for environmental education led him to Wehr Nature Center. He was a founding member of Friends of Wehr, enjoyed serving on the Board of Directors, and built great friendships as a volunteer for 35+ years. Jim was a dedicated Green Bay Packer fan, growing up in Green Bay he watched games at City Stadium before it became Lambeau Field. He loved spending time with family on his land up north, working out in the yard, and driving his Fiero.

Family with gather for a celebration of life ceremony in the great outdoors to honor and remember Jim.

His love of nature lives on.
