Holiday Light Festivals Opening Soon Near Greendale

The familiar dazzle of drive-thru and in-person holiday light shows will return to these spots as soon as Friday.

GREENDALE, WI β€” As we inch closer into the holiday season, several spots around Greendale are already planning on bringing back holiday light shows and carnivals.

From the State Fair Expo Center, to Jellystone Park in Caledonia and American Family Field, the dazzle of drive-thru light displays and in-person holiday experiences will return to the area as soon as Nov. 19. For many of these events, tickets must be bought ahead of time.

Jellystone Park Carnival of Lights

Jellystone Park, located just south of Oak Creek at 8425 State Road 38 in Caledonia, is planning on holding a grand opening weekend Nov. 20-21 for its 12th annual drive-thru "Christmas Carnival of Lights."

The opening weekend event will present a 1.6-mile-long course drive-thru course of lights set to music. For opening weekend Jellystone planned photos with Santa, face painting and holiday songs by the Cudahy High School Concert Choir. After opening weekend, the light course will be open daily starting Nov. 27. More information is available at the Jellystone Park website.

Winter Wonders at Boerner Botanical Gardens

Winter Wonders at the Boerner Botanical Gardens kicks off on Friday, according to its website.
"Dramatic lighting techniques and fantastic displays make this drive-through holiday lights show a feast for the eyes and the spirits!" the light show's website reads. "Gather with family and friends to enjoy the illuminated forests and fields of the Boerner Arboretum and Whitnall Park."

The show features a 1.5-mile drive-thru light experience and drive-by visits by Santa every night.

Noel Light Park and Christmas Market

Tickets are now on sale for the Noel Light Show and Christmas Market at State Fair Exposition Center this holiday season. The event calls itself Milwaukee's biggest and brightest indoor Christmas festival.

The light show is scheduled to start on Nov. 27 and run through Jan. 2 at the State Fair Exposition Center, 8200 W Greenfield Avenue in West Allis.

The festival plans a massive indoor set up at State Fair complete with a 50-foot Christmas tree, light tunnel and "larger-than-life" animals. An artisan market, regular food and drink, Santa village and "Noel princesses" top off the show's plans. Tickets and more information are available online.

Magic of Lights at American Family Field

Magic of Lights, located at 1 Brewers Way in Milwaukee, is another drive-thru holiday light experience this year at American Family Field. According to its website, the light show plans on featuring holiday scenes and seasonal characters using digital animation and modern LED technology.

The light show tours start Nov. 24 and run until Jan. 2. More information and tickets are available online.
