Investigation Continues For Battery Report But No Leads: Police
Greendale police said they are still looking for leads in a battery investigation from Oct. 17 related to five juveniles on bikes.

GREENDALE, WI β The Greendale Police Department announced Wednesday they are still investigating the battery complaint stemming from an incident on Oct. 17, but leads have been sparse.
The Wednesday announcement comes after police put out a news release earlier this week about a related series of incidents that took place on Oct. 17. Police said during their investigation the battery victim and his adult chaperone were uncooperative and shortcoming with information.
But past the initial investigation and concerns from some who said police should have handled the situation differently β including the aunt of the battery victim β Greendale police reiterated they are continuing the battery investigation.

Protesters on Monday also questioned the Greendale Police Department, and a local group has called for more investigation into how officers handled the arrest of the juveniles.
"They had handcuffs so tight, he was screaming. He even got into the back of an ambulance handcuffed," the aunt mother of one of the juveniles told reporters about her nephew in a conference at the protest Monday. "If he's a victim, why is he being treated like that?"

The juvenile victim told the responding Greendale police officer and a Greendale detective the day of the incident that he was jumped by five juvenile males on bikes between 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m in the area of Westway and Elberton, according to a news release from the department.
The victim told police the suspects were all around 17 years old and riding bikes. After the reported battery, the suspects fled southbound on Westway, according to the news release.
The victim described the suspects to police: Two were wearing gray sweatpants and three were wearing gray shorts. The bicycles were described as a white mountain bike, a green and purple bike, a yellow bike, a white and blue bike, and a black bike, the news release said.
The area was searched by police and no suspects matching the victim's description were found. Police also canvassed the neighborhood for interviews with residents and CCTV footage was requested and reviewed from the area, police said in the news release.
Nothing related to the incident has been uncovered so far, police said.
Police are asking for anyone with information on the incident to contact them as they are still investigating all aspects and following up on tips and leads. Anyone with information or camera footage specific to the incident was asked to contact the Greendale Police Department at (414) 423-2121.
According to police, the initial investigation was repeatedly distracted by the adult male chaperone of the battery victim who said he was taking matters of the investigation into his own hands. That ended in discredited accusations from the adult chaperone on the lawn of a Greendale home, and then his arrest, plus the arrest of three involved juveniles, one of them the battery victim, according to police.
