GREENDALE, WI β€” A Greendale woman was scammed out of $500 in Apple gift cards last week, Greendale Police Department said.

The woman purchased the gift cards and then handed them over to an unknown person. The scam happened a week before the Greendale Police Department had to deal with phone scammers of their own in the dispatch center.

A person called the department pretending to be a federal agent. When the dispatcher asked some questions, the caller promptly hung up. The occasion led Greendale Police Department to post some tips on avoiding phone scams.
