Teen Drivers Crash During Street Race In Greendale: Police
Police said the teens were lucky to walk away with minimal injuries, though they received citations.

GREENDALE, WI β Two cars that were racing on Root River Parkway Monday afternoon crashed near Parkview Road, according to Greendale police.
At the crash scene, officers found two juveniles in the first car and one juvenile in the other car, according to a Facebook post by police. Police said injuries were minimal and that the teens were "lucky to walk away" from the incident.
During the teens' race, they saw an on-coming truck so one of the cars swerved into the other car, police said. Both cars went off the road, one managed to strike a tree and the other rolled over, according to police.

One of the cars managed to have a tree lodged partially into its front passenger area, photos posted by police showed. The other car made it onto its roof after the crash, photos showed.
Police said the two cars, driven by teens, were racing on the parkway after their school day had ended.

"This could have been a tragic situation," Greendale police wrote. "Now is the perfect time to have that talk with your teen about safe driving."
