Massive Fall Color Gap: Hudson at 85 Percent, Pierce County at 15 Percent?

The leaves in St. Croix County have nearly peaked while Pierce County has barely started, according to Travel Wisconsin.

There is a 70% gap in how far along fall colors are between St. Croix County and Pierce County, according to the latest Wisconsin Fall Color Report at the Travel Wisconsin website.

Pierce County is an island of green on a state map that is quickly approaching peak fall colors on the tourist agency's online map. But that could be a function of when the counties were last updated. The fine print reads:

Pierce County: 15% Color
Estimated Week of Peak: 3rd Week of Oct

Hudson: 85% Color
Estimated Week of Peak: 2nd Week of Oct
