The Hamilton students became four of the country’s 15,000 finalists through verification of their outstanding academic records, endorsement by the school principal and SAT scores that confirm the students’ earlier test performance. The selection of some 7,500 Merit Scholarship winners from the group of finalists is now in progress and will be announced in March.
More than 1.5 million high school students entered the competition by taking the 2020 Preliminary SAT (PSAT)/National Merit Scholarship qualifying test. In September, the four Hamilton students were named among the 16,000 semifinalists nationwide.
