2 Milwaukee Jail Inmates Test Positive For Coronavirus
Neither person showed symptoms while in custody, officials said.

MILWAUKEE, WI — Two Milwaukee County Jail inmates have tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend, though neither person showed symptoms while in custody, officials with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's office said.
According to sheriff's officials, one of the inmates that tested positive was detained in the jail, and the other had been recently released from jail on Sunday. Officials have yet to say either person's age or sex.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office and the county's medical provider report that medical officials are conducting "rigorous contact tracing" to find out where the two inmates contracted the virus.

Sheriff's officials say they're with the Milwaukee Health Department to make sure all treatment, isolation, and quarantine protocols follow best practices outlined by the Center for Disease Control.

Sheriff's officials also say they're continuing to maintain rigorous screening, social distancing, and single-cell housing consistent with public health and medical guidance.
According to official Milwaukee County data, a total of 27 inmates have tested positive as of April 17, with 17 pending tests in the House of Correction. There had been four pending tests in the jail as of April 17.
Official statistics kept by the county show that four House of Correction workers and one jail worker tested positive for the coronavirus as of April 17.
