MILWAUKEE, WI — A fiery crash left three people dead Thursday evening when a sedan broke off the side of the 16th Street viaduct amid a police chase, according to the Milwaukee Police Department.
Officers spotted the car being involved in a possible drug deal near South 22nd and Mineral Streets just before 6 p.m., police said. Police said the car sped away when officers tried to stop it, beginning a chase that ended when the sedan drove off the side of the 16th Street bridge.
Just before the sedan drove off the road, it crossed the centerline on the bridge then ran onto the sidewalk and hit a pedestrian, police said. The car then broke through the fence and caught fire below, according to police.
