4 Tornadoes Confirmed In SE Wisconsin During Wednesday's Storms

Four "short-lived" tornadoes were confirmed with Wednesday's storms in the greater Milwaukee area, the National Weather Service said.

WISCONSIN — National forecasters have confirmed that four "short-lived" tornadoes formed in southeast Wisconsin during Wednesday's thunderstorms.

All four were EF0 with winds between 65 and 75 mph, according to the National Weather Service. They happened in Nashotah, West Allis, Lake Geneva and Burlington. Tornadoes are ranked on a damage scale from EF0 to EF5, with EF2 considered a significant tornado and EF5 the max.

Nobody was killed or injured in the four tornadoes, according to preliminary NWS damage survey results. The West Allis tornado formed around 12:19 p.m. on Wednesday near South 105th and Becher Streets. It lasted less than 10 minutes and traveled east for about 3 miles until it ended near 58th Street and Stack Drive, according to the NWS.

The tornado in West Allis had a max damage width of about 40 yards, NWS said. It was the first tornado to touch down in Milwaukee County in decades, according to AccuWeather.

The other three tornadoes confirmed by NWS had varying lengths of travel. The one that touched down just before noon in the Nashotah and Hartland area traveled for about 0.6 miles with a damage width of 50 yards.

The tornado in Burlington began around 12:20 p.m. and lasted for about 4 miles with a 25-yard damage width. The twister started south of the Town of Burlington and moved southeast, according to the NWS.

Another tornado started just east of Lake Geneva around 12:17 p.m. and traveled for about 2.4 miles southeast with a damage field of 40 yards.
