MILWAUKEE, WI — Another Milwaukee-area business has announced that it's closing its doors in 2020, making for a rough start to the retail season.

After four years in Milwaukee, Urban Beets, a restaurant that prides itself on its plant-based menu, closed its doors.

According to a post published on Jan. 29 on Facebook, the owners said after four years, they incurred heavy financial losses, prompting the closing of the Downtown Milwaukee location. The Wauwatosa location is still open, owners said.

According to a CBS 58 report, owners cited a lack of parking spaces and a growing demand for space.

"Over the last few years, the efforts towards making it work significantly negatively impacted our health, our friendships, and our time to enjoy life," the post read. "We worked often upwards of 70 hours a week. We went through the stress and anxiety of putting other important things on hold, to make this café a reality. We had the support of many great employees, managers, and friends over the years."
