1. Evers appoints assistant DA to replace retiring Milwaukee County Circuit Court judge (jsonline.com) — Milwaukee County will see a new face on the bench as Gov. Tony Evers appoints longtime assistant district attorney Owen Piotrowski to fill the Branch 38 Circuit Court seat vacated by retiring Judge Jeffrey Wagner. Piotrowski, a Milwaukee resident who has led the DA’s firearms unit, will serve through July 2027 after a decade prosecuting serious crimes in the county.
   

2. Milwaukee Police Department asks public's assistance finding critically missing 75-year-old Ethel Brown (tmj4.com) — Milwaukee police are urgently asking for help finding 75-year-old Ethel Brown, last seen Tuesday afternoon walking near the 2400 block of W. North Ave. She may be on foot or using Milwaukee County buses and often visits W. Historic Mitchell St. and W. North Ave. corridors. Anyone with information is urged to call MPD’s District 3 non-emergency line.
   

3. Milwaukee County Zoo welcomes new eastern black rhino in renovated habitat (tmj4.com) — Milwaukee County Zoo has introduced Zuri, a 15-year-old eastern black rhino, into a newly renovated, more immersive habitat that brings visitors closer to this endangered species. Zoo officials say the project, years in the making, pairs with ongoing Wild Lights festivities to raise funds that support animal care and global conservation programs, including efforts to protect wild rhinos.
   

4. Twin sisters from Milwaukee give birth to baby boys just days apart (wisn.com) — Twin sisters Ashley and Amber Handy, who grew up doing everything together, recently delivered baby boys just a week apart at Ascension St. Joseph in Milwaukee. Their pregnancies were complicated by high blood pressure, highlighting a hospital initiative that sends patients home with blood pressure cuffs, lowers treatment thresholds, and has already cut postpartum readmissions by half for local families.
   

5. Developer expands plans for former Everbrite site by more than 200 units (biztimes.com subscription) — A major $130 million housing redevelopment is moving forward on the former Everbrite site in South Milwaukee, with plans growing to roughly 585 units and a new $70 million high-rise tower. After city feedback, the developer added more housing types but still faces concerns about limited neighborhood feel and lakefront access. The updated proposal goes before the South Milwaukee Plan Commission Tuesday evening.
