Alex Lasry Ends Run For U.S. Senate Ahead Of Primary
Endorsing Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes, Alex Lasry dropped out of the race for U.S. Senate on Wednesday.

WISCONSIN — Milwaukee Bucks executive Alex Lasry dropped out of the race for U.S. Senate on Wednesday, he announced via Twitter, less than two weeks ahead of the Aug. 9 Democratic primary election.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported the news first. Lasry told the newspaper he is endorsing frontrunner Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes, and that the decision comes to "unite and rally our support to ensure we're spending every second we can to get Ron Johnson out of office."
The move leaves Barnes, State Treasurer Sarah Godlewski and Steven Olikara in the running for senate. Outagamie County Executive Tom Nelson dropped out of the race on Monday. Lasry had spent around $12 million on his campaign, according to CNN.

Voters will decide on Aug. 9 which of the Democratic candidates faces off against incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson in the fall.
"The single best thing we can do for Wisconsin—and for America—is to beat Ron Johnson, and that must start now," Lasry said Wednesday in a Tweet.

"Whether it's his constant conspiracy theorizing, his fealty to Donald Trump, or his just general indifference to actually trying to make the lives of working people less hard," said Lasry in an April statement to Patch, "Ron Johnson has shown time and time again that he is not up to the task of representing the people of Wisconsin."
Lasry was running with the goal of prioritizing good union jobs, raising wages for working people, improving access to affordable healthcare and improving infrastructure, he told Patch in April for a candidate profile.
