Authorities Identify Man Who Died In Crash With Sheriff's Squad

Milwaukee police are investigating the crash, though key details have yet to be revealed to the public.

MILWAUKEE, WI — One person died following a Saturday crash involving a truck and a Milwaukee County sheriff's deputy squad car.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the deceased as Ceasar Stinson, a 47-year-old man with long ties to the Milwaukee community. Sheriff Earnell Lucas said, “Our entire community grieves the loss of Mr. Stinson, a man who has made significant contributions to the quality of life in the city of Milwaukee. We pray that his family is comforted in knowing that his life had an impact on youth in our community. May his memory continue to inspire his family, friends and all who loved him.”

Milwaukee police are investigating the crash, though key details have yet to be revealed to the public, including the degree anyone was at fault in the crash.

Stinson worked as a lobbyist on behalf of the Milwaukee Public School System. In a statement, MPS said: "Ceasar Stinson will be greatly missed by Milwaukee Public Schools. Ceasar worked in various departments and offices throughout the organization since 2002. Ceasar was a very intelligent and thoughtful individual who was a strong team member. He was passionate about young people in the district as well as in the community. His death is a great loss to Milwaukee Public Schools and also the entire city of Milwaukee."

According to reports, a deputy's squad car traveling northbound on 10th Street when it collided with a pickup truck traveling westbound on State Street, causing the truck to flip and land just north of the intersection.

The two occupants of the truck — Stinson and and female passenger — had to be extricated, WISN Channel 12 reported. Stinson was pronounced dead at the scene while the woman was taken to a nearby hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

The deputy was also taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

Police told WISN there is no information to indicate the cars were involved in a chase at the time of the crash.
