Beloit Man Sold Fentanyl While Under Federal Supervision: Feds

A 39-year-old Beloit, Wisconsin man was sentenced last week for another federal felony drug crime.

MADISON, WI — A 39-year-old Beloit, Wisconsin man was sentenced last week to 7 ½ years in federal prison for distributing 40 grams or more of fentanyl.

Darnell Isabell, 39, pleaded guilty to this charge back in March.

Isabell was already under federal supervision for a previous drug trafficking conviction when he was selling drugs, authorities said.

As a result, Judge William Conley overseeing his sentence revoked that supervision and imposed a new 18-month sentence to run consecutive to the sentence on the new conviction.

On Jan. 11, 2023, surveilling officers saw Isabell meet with a motorist on Oakwood Avenue in Beloit where Isabell delivered two ounces of fentanyl, authorities said.

Officers seized the substance that Isabell delivered to the motorist, and it tested positive for fentanyl, according to prosecutors. A subsequent search of Isabell’s home resulted in the recovery of additional amounts of fentanyl, cocaine, and $2,120 in U.S. currency, investigators said.

Judge Conley noted that Isabell spent most of his adult life selling drugs, citing the fact that Isabell sold drugs while under federal supervised release from his 2017 cocaine distribution conviction.

Isabell served eight years in prison for that conviction before being released to supervision in 2022, federal officials said.
