Celebrate National Ice Cream Day 2022 At These Wisconsin Shops

From chocolate to butter pecan to cookies and cream, celebrate National Ice Cream Day with your favorite flavor.

MILWAUKEE, WI — Find a friend and find a spot in the shade: Sunday is National Ice Cream Day, giving us here in southeastern Wisconsin the perfect excuse to enjoy a summer treat at one of our favorite ice cream (or custard) shops.

The first National Ice Cream Day was in 1984. We owe our thanks for the day to former President Ronald Reagan. The man must've loved ice cream, so he wanted to commemorate the treat with its own day. And most of us can probably agree, the sweet delicacy is worthy of its own day.

In Wisconsin, one flavor may confuse people from out of state: blue moon. But which flavor rules them all? A recent ranking by TOP Data in honor of National Ice Cream Day determined the top 5 flavors in every state based on online shopping data.
