MILWAUKEE, WI — A shootout Friday evening between police and a homicide suspect in downtown Milwaukee left the suspect dead and a bystander injured, according to police.

The violence struck near Juneau Avenue and Water Street in a particularly public fashion. A video posted on Twitter appeared to show the moments leading up to Friday's shooting. Several police squad cars can be seen chasing a truck past a crowded street corner until a hail of gunfire erupts.

The shooting comes just months after 21 people were injured in the entertainment district in separate shootings after a Bucks game in May. All eight officers who were involved Friday were placed on administrative leave after the shooting, police said.

That chase came to downtown, where the suspect's car became disabled and the man got out and began shooting, according to police. Officers then shot and killed the man.
