Extreme Heat: Temperatures Expected To Reach 100s Wednesday

The National Weather Service forecasts heat into the upper 90s and lower 100s Wednesday and scattered storms for Thursday and Friday.

MILWAUKEE, WI — The National Weather Service expects temperatures to reach the lower 100s in southeast Wisconsin Wednesday along with some scattered thunderstorms.

The NWS expects heat index values to rise to the mid-90s and lower 100s from Fond Du Lac to Kenosha.

The day will be hot and humid, with the chance of thunderstorms over southern Wisconsin, the weather service said. People are encouraged to stay hydrated if they're outdoors.

Here's the forecast for the next three days:

Today: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 4 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 88. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tonight: A 10 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 70. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming northwest after midnight.

Thursday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 79. Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph.

Thursday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. Northeast wind 5 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Friday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 8 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 8 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 83. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Friday Night: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 71. South wind 5 to 10 mph.
