Heavy Rain And High Waves Expected Monday And Tuesday

There is a high chance of thunderstorms for several counties in southeastern Wisconsin Monday.

MILWAUKEE, WI — Thunderstorms with high risk of currents and waves are expected along Wisconsin's southeastern shoreline with Lake Michigan, the National Weather Service said.

Showers and thunderstorms are likely for beaches in Milwaukee, Racine, Sheboygan, Ozaukee and Kenosha Counties at 1 p.m. Rainfall and wind around 15 mph is expected after 2 a.m. Tuesday.

Life threatening waves and currents are expected Monday morning and afternoon, the service said. Swimmers are advised to stay out of the water and away from breakwalls and piers until Tuesday afternoon.

Today: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. South wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 a.m. Low around 62. South wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Tuesday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 10 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 68. Northwest wind around 15 mph.

Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 53. North wind 10 to 15 mph.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 65. Breezy, with a north wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 50. North wind 10 to 15 mph.
