Livestream: Michelle Obama, Bernie Sanders Headline DNC Day 1

MILWAUKEE, WI — The first night of the 2020 Democratic National Convention will be held Monday evening in Milwaukee with virtual keynote addresses from headliners Michelle Obama and Sen. Bernie Sanders. Monday's theme is “We the People.”

Convention speakers will address voters from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., central time on Monday evening. Day one will also feature remarks from Governors Andrew Cuomo and Gretchen Whitmer and Senators Catherine Cortez Masto, Doug Jones and Amy Klobuchar.

During the convention, which runs through Thursday, the Democratic Party will formally nominate and back Joe Biden and Sen. Kamala Harris as its candidates in the upcoming general election for president and vice president of the United States.

Throughout the engagement, speakers including politicians, celebrities and frontline health care workers will address topics like social justice, the coronavirus pandemic, putting country over party. Monday's full lineup can be found on the DNC's website.

In advance of Monday's kickoff, a preview of Obama's speech was shared on the DNC's YouTube page. In an address titled "I Know Joe."

"He knows what it takes to rescue an economy, beat back a pandemic and lead our country," the former first lady said of Biden. "He listens. He will tell the truth and trust science."

Before the show kicks off, hosts from Behind The Rhyme podcast will host a pre-show event called "Your Voice Your Vote" on the streaming platform Twitch. Night one of the convention will be followed up by a post-show panel and a set from DJ Beverly Bond.

The 2020 DNC will also feature musical acts such as John Legend, The Chicks, Common and Billy Porter among others. Convention officials have yet to say which day each performer will be featured. Here is the full list of performers for the convention.
