Man Armed With Knifes Shot Dead By West Allis Officers: Police

Five West Allis police officers were placed on standard administrative leave after fatally shooting a 36-year-old man Thursday morning.

WEST ALLIS, WI — Five West Allis police officers were placed on standard administrative leave after fatally shooting a 36-year-old man Thursday morning.

Just after 6:30 a.m., officers responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 1400 block of South 71st Street.

At the scene, officers encountered a man armed with two knives, according to authorities.

"During the encounter, several officers discharged their weapons," the West Allis Police Department said in a statement.

The man was struck and pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were injured in the shoot.

Per state law, the Milwaukee Area Investigative Team has taken over the investigation with the assistance of the Wauwatosa Police Department.
