Milwaukee Alderman Found Dead In Park
Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson and others honored Jonathan Brostoff's life and dedication to the city in public statements on Monday.

MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee Alderman Jonathan Brostoff has died and Mayor Cavalier Johnson and Brostoff's colleagues on the Common Council honored his life and service in public statements released Monday.
A city spokesperson confirmed with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and other outlets that Brostoff died by suicide. His body was found in Greenfield Park in West Allis.
It's not yet clear when he died.

Brostoff, 41, served as a Wisconsin state representative for the 19th Assembly District before he was elected to Milwaukee’s 3rd District seat on the Common Council in 2022.
Brostoff graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a degree in political science, TMJ4 reported.

"Jonathan brought a unique energy to his work at City Hall. His passion and dedication were evident every day. No elected official brought more enthusiasm to their work than Jonathan," Mayor Cavalier Johnson said in a statement.
"He was a husband, a father, a son, and, to me, a close friend. My thoughts and sympathy go out to his family and friends at this difficult time."
