Milwaukee Area Recruits Wanted For American Red Cross Team
The American Red Cross of Wisconsin is looking for volunteers after it helped over 2,000 people in the Milwaukee area last year.
MILWAUKEE, WI — The American Red Cross of Wisconsin announced Wednesday that it is looking for volunteers ahead of the winter season.
After volunteers helped over 2,000 people in Milwaukee County, the organization asked people to volunteer for the Milwaukee area Disaster Action Team before the winter fire season.
New disaster volunteers are welcome from anywhere in Wisconsin, but the organization is looking for recruits from Milwaukee and Milwaukee County, the organization said.

The one disaster the Red Cross responds to the most are house fires, the organization said. Team members train and respond to local communities after disasters and provide assistance to families that are affected.
Some of the volunteers' responsibilities are responding to local disasters when activated, working on-scene with families after disasters and to conduct intake interviews.

People can sign up for the Disaster Action Team online. The organization is also looking for caseworkers, dispatchers and mental health service associates.
