Milwaukee Brewer Ryan Braun Retiring From Major League Baseball

The left fielder announced his retirement Tuesday after 14 years of playing on Milwaukee's baseball team.

MILWAUKEE, WI — Milwaukee Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun announced Tuesday that he will retire from Major League Baseball.

Braun said he felt gratitude and thanked his fans during a 1-minute, 20-second video via the team's Twitter page. "I've been incredibly fortunate to be joined by countless amazing teammates, coaches, support staff, friends and family for this incredible ride," he said.

Braun, 37, began his professional baseball career when he started playing for the Milwaukee Brewers in May 2007. He hadn't played with the team since 2019.

A ceremony celebrating Braun's career is to be held at American Family Field in Milwaukee on Sept. 26, which will be the Brewers' last home game of the regular season.
