Milwaukee Bucks NBA Champions Parade Thursday: What To Know

MILWAUKEE, WI — Milwaukee is still reeling from the Bucks NBA Finals win Tuesday night, and now the city will host a parade in celebration.

The city announced Wednesday will host a celebration parade at 11 a.m. on Thursday. The parade will start at Museum Center Park, 910 E Michigan St, and march northwest to E. Knapp Street and E. Edison Street.

The parade will start at the intersection of N. Prospect Avenue and E. Wisconsin Avenue and head west on Wisconsin Avenue. It will turn north on N. Water St. and continue to E. Knapp St. It will turn west again on E. Knapp St. and end on the bridge over the Milwaukee River.

Bucks players, coaches, alumni and staff will participate in the parade, the team said in a statement. After the parade, a championship celebration will take place in Block 6 of Deer District, which is located directly north of Fiserv Forum between Vel R. Phillips Ave. and N. 5th St., it added.

The championship celebration will take place at 12:30 p.m., the team said.

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett will also attend the Deer District celebration, the team said.

Where to watch in person:
Parade watchers are invited to line the route starting west of the pedestrian crossing where Prospect Avenue and Wisconsin Avenue meet, the Milwaukee Department of Public Works said in a statement.

Street closures:

The city anticipates closing the parade streets and several other streets as early as 8 a.m., the department said.

Here are the streets that will be closed besides the parade route:

• West McKinley Avenue from North Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. Drive to North 6th Street
• West Juneau Avenue from North Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. Drive to North 6th Street
• North Vel R. Phillips Avenue from West McKinley Avenue to West Kilbourn Avenue
• North 5th Street from West McKinley Avenue to West Juneau Avenue

The Hop will be in service for riders but may be delayed due to crowds and the parade crossing its route, the department said. Riders are encouraged to follow @HopAlerts on Twitter to be notified of any delays, it added.

MCTS bus routes in downtown Milwaukee will be impacted as well, the department said. Riders are encouraged to go to RIDEMCTS.com/Alerts for delay information.

City Hall will also be closed to the public between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., the department said.

The Bucks are launching a new app to watch the celebration via livestream through. Viewers can download the app and watch there at 11 a.m.

WISN-12 will cover the celebration from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., a WISN official told Patch.
